The digital route
An e-apostille is an official FCDO apostille in electronic form. Instead of a paper certificate stapled to your document, you receive a digitally sealed PDF with the apostille attached, which anyone you send it to can check in seconds on the FCDO's official Verify an apostille service. Acceptance should always be confirmed with the receiving authority, and that check is part of our service, done before you pay.
Send us a clear scan or PDF and, for a fully electronic application, everything happens online. Sometimes the notary must see the original document or verify it with the issuing body before certifying it (university degrees, for example, are checked through HEDD, the UK's official degree verification service). We tell you exactly what is needed before you pay.
The FCDO processes e-apostille applications in up to 2 working days, occasionally longer if a signature needs verifying. Most orders complete in an estimated 2 to 3 working days end to end.
The digitally signed PDF can be emailed anywhere in the world in seconds and checked by the receiving authority on the FCDO's verification service. No courier or postage charges for a fully electronic application.

Where required, we arrange electronic notarisation: our notary certifies your document with a qualified electronic signature registered with the FCDO Legalisation Office. Where professional rules require it, the notary first inspects the original or verifies the document with its issuer, and we build any extra time or verification cost into your quote.
We submit the signed PDF through the FCDO e-apostille service. The FCDO usually attaches the e-apostille within 2 working days, occasionally longer if a signature needs verifying.
You receive the sealed PDF by email, ready to send on. It can be verified online by whoever asked for it.

E-apostille acceptance is growing quickly, but not every country has adopted it yet, and some accept it only for certain document types. Before taking any payment we confirm that the authority you are sending your document to will accept an e-apostille. If it will not, we will tell you plainly and offer the paper route instead. You will never pay for the wrong service.

The £77 e-apostille price is fixed and per document, and covers the e-apostille service; electronic notarisation, if required, is quoted separately. There are no courier or postage charges for a fully electronic application. Where notarisation is needed, your quote gives one clear total for the whole job before you commit to anything. Often not, and a clear scan is always enough to start. In some cases the notary must inspect the original or verify the document with its issuer before certifying it; university degrees, for example, are usually verified through HEDD, the UK's official degree verification service. We confirm exactly what is needed in your free quote, before you pay. Where an original is needed, you can bring it to our Aberdeen or Cambridge office, or send it by tracked post to whichever suits you.
If it was electronically signed by a UK notary or solicitor whose digital signature is registered with the FCDO, it can go straight for the e-apostille, and you only pay for that part. If not, our notary certifies it first.
A digitally signed PDF of your document with the FCDO e-apostille attached, delivered by email. You can forward it to whoever asked for it, and they can confirm it is genuine on the FCDO's official Verify an apostille service.
No. An e-apostille must stay in its digitally signed PDF form; a printout is only a copy and loses the digital signature that makes it verifiable. Send the PDF file itself to whoever asked for it, and they can check it in seconds on the FCDO's Verify an apostille service.
